Bank Workers’ Union of Brasília

Portal for the Bank Workers’ Union of the Federal District

A news portal with a members-only area and seven service paths for union members. Six years live, from 2019 to 2025.

Context

The union serves thousands of members in Brazil’s federal capital. Much of what it offers — collective agreements, legal assistance, member benefits, the ombudsman — depended on a phone call or a visit to the office, during office hours.

The problem

Union services locked to office hours. Collective agreements, legal assistance, benefits and the ombudsman — what members look for most — depended on calling or turning up in person, at exactly the hours when they are also at work. And the portal had to hold two opposite natures at once: news, which has to be public and indexed, and member records, which must not appear to anyone.

What was built

A news portal with a members-only area. Union services organized by path — collective agreements, record updates, conciliation committees, ombudsman, legal assistance, member benefits and the cultural calendar.

Decisions worth knowing

What separates a portfolio from an album of screenshots is the reasoning behind each choice.

  1. Services organized by path, not by org chart

A member doesn’t know which department handles what — they know what they need to resolve. The seven paths follow their need, not the union’s internal structure.

  2. Members-only area separate from the public portal

News is open content and needs to be indexed. Member records are the opposite. Both live in the same portal, with an explicit boundary between what search engines read and what only appears after login.
